Resources to Prepare

Preparing for your time abroad should include reflection on your own values, experiences, and perspectives and those of the people in the culture where you will be visiting.

Connect with the Global Engineering Fellows to learn more about their experience abroad and to discuss questions you may have.

Read up on your host country and watch relevant movies/media. The Penn State University Libraries provide access to destination information, local news sources, international films, and world music.

Studying abroad is more than just traveling internationally. Because you earn credits on all Penn State-approved study abroad programs, you will need to determine how a study abroad experience will fit into your academic plan. Here you can find a few easy steps to get you started on your study abroad journey.

Students in any engineering major can study abroad and there are options all over the world. Find a program based on location or major using our matrix.

Global Engineering Engagement has several events each semester to help you learn more about our programs and your options. See what’s coming up on our Facebook page, on Instagram or on our events page.

The mission of Global Engineering Engagement is to create an environment that embraces the values of international education, where access to global exposure and opportunities to develop cross-cultural competence is pervasive. We believe that it is within our reach to ensure that all engineering students can become internationally engaged.
