About the course:

This course will be offered as, STS 200: Critical Issues STS: Sustainable Urban Redevelopment. With Travel over Winter Break (Dec 27-Jan 11). 

This spring-embedded program travels to Sydney, Australia, during Penn State’s winter break for an immersive class experience within the context of sustainable urban redevelopment.  Students will participate in tours of built and natural environments to learn about the complexities of sustainable redevelopment in our rapidly globalizing world. Course participants will broaden their understanding of ethical and sustainable development in a global context through team-centered projects and readings from the social sciences, humanities, and engineering.  Key learning outcomes of the course include discovering sustainable development practices, developing global competencies, and acquiring transferable skills necessary for thriving in a globalized society.

Course fee:  approximately $3,800, plus flights
