Global Engineering Engagement Week

This weeklong event highlighted opportunities for engineering students to become globally engaged, and included discussions on study abroad, virtual global internships, STEM research abroad, fellowships, and intercultural learning opportunities.

1:00 p.m. Michael Adewumi holds a doctoral degree in gas engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Currently, Dr. Adewumi is the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) Abroad. Before joining IES Abroad, Dr. Adewumi served Penn State as a professor of petroleum and natural gas engineering and Vice Provost for Global Programs, providing leadership and oversight for Penn State’s international engagements across the University, including international students, study abroad, and global partnerships.

Among other numerous accomplishments, Dr. Adewumi led the development of the Penn State Global Engagement Network, fostered interdepartmental collaboration and broad faculty support for Penn State’s international programs, led Penn State to become the number one university in Pennsylvania in terms of the economic contributions of its international students to the state economy, and facilitated the substantial growth of study abroad and international scholar programs at the University.
